What do I need to do to use the computer labs ?
All students using the lab must acquire an FC student ID card. FC student ID cards may be picked up in the Student Center during posted
hours. Bring your student
ID card to the Lab Aide the first time you use the lab. The Lab Aide will
register you.
Students using the computer labs must bring their student ID card
each time they use an ACT lab. In order to use a computer, students must place their
student ID card in the holder provided on the computer. You will not be allowed access
to the lab without your student ID card. This applies whether or not you are with a class.
Where can I purchase campus printing ?
Campus printing can be purchased at the FC Bookstore. Please ask the cashier
for campus printing. There are no cards involved. Save your receipt. You may
need to present the receipt to the lab aide on duty to have the value credited
to your student account. Black and white prints are debited at four cents per page. Color prints are
debited at twenty-five cents per page in the 317, 511 and 901 labs, and at one dollar
per page in the 1024 lab.
If I log in at one lab can I log out at another ?
No. Please log in each time you enter a lab, and log out each time you leave.
May I leave my workstation for a while without logging out ?
No. Please log out of your FCNet account each time you leave the lab. Since it is
impossible for us to reserve workstations or to watch your belongings while you are gone,
please logout and take all of your belongings with you whenever you leave the lab.
What applications are available in the labs ?
Click here for a list of applications by lab.
Can I buy a disk in the lab ?
We do not have disks for sale in the computer labs. Disks can be purchased
at the Fullerton College Bookstore.
How can I purchase campus printing when the Bookstore is closed?
Please ask lab aide on duty about Emergency Fund ($0.20). Remember, each student can get an Emergency Fund only once a month. However, if you need to print more, lab aide can refer you to the Lab Tech on duty. Maximum amount that one can buy is $1.00
Do you have a scanner?
There is one scanner in each of the following labs: 317, 511,
901A, 1024.
Do you have color printing?
Color printing is available in the following labs: 317, 511, 901A, 1024.
The fee is twenty-five cents per page in the 317, 901 and 511 labs and one dollar per page in the 1024
lab.
May I load the software that came with my textbook onto the hard
drive?
Please do not load any software onto the hard drive of the lab computers.
If you need to use the software for your classes, have your instructor submit a software
installation request and we will make the software available on the network.
Why can't I play games in the computer labs?
We have very limited resources. With over 12,000 student account holders
and about 200 open lab computers, it is impossible to guarantee computer time to students
working on assignments. If some of those computers are being used by students
playing games it stretches our resources even further. Out of consideration to your fellow
students we ask that you do not play games. For more information read the Computer Lab Policies and the Acceptable Use
Policy.
If I save something on the hard drive, will it be there later?
No. Not only are the lab computers frequently "rebuilt", data
stored on the hard drive can be viewed, edited and deleted by anyone using the computer.
Data should always be saved to the account holder's home folder (H:) or to a floppy disk.
What is my email address?
For student account holders, your email address is STUDENTID@fullcoll.edu
where STUDENTID is your eight-digit student ID number. Email addresses for faculty and staff
account holders are usually NAME@fullcoll.edu where NAME is your first initial and last name.
Can I send email to someone off campus? Can they send email to me?
Yes. You can also read your email from off campus if you have access to a
browser. Go to https://exchange.fullcoll.edu.
Can I post my web page here?
Yes. For more information read FCNet Account Information for Students or Staff.
If I posted a page here last semester is it still there?
Yes. As long as you renew your FCNet account by the eleventh week of each
semester your account, including your mail and web page, will remain as you left it.
Web sites that have not been updated for 12 months will be deleted.
How much space am I allowed?
Student account holders receive 10 MB of mail space and 10 MB of data space.
Faculty and staff account holders receive 50 MB of mail space and 75 MB of data space. You
will receive a message from FCNet before you reach your space limitation for mail. When
this happens, empty your deleted items folder, your sent items folder and move any
attachments or graphics files to your data storage.
Do you have plug-ins for laptops?
We do not have plug-ins for laptop computers in the labs.
Do you have facilities for persons with disabilities?
Yes. In addition to the services offered by the DSPS, we have an adaptive
workstation in each of the computer labs.
How can I FTP to my account?
Visit our web site at http://fcnet.fullcoll.edu/config.html
and scroll down to FTP. This will give you a list of FCNet FTP servers.
